Dr Vassilis J. Inglezakis, EREC Director
Dr Vassilis J. Inglezakis is Associate Professor of Chemical & Materials Engineering at Nazarbayev University and leader of The Environment & Resource Efficiency Cluster (EREC – erec.nu.edu.kz) and the Environmental Science & Technology Group (ESTg- estg.nu.edu.kz).
His area of research is wide covering advanced materials, water/wastewater reclamation, adsorption process modelling, waste management and resource efficiency. He has published 94 Journal papers, 140 papers in international conferences, authored 2 books with Elsevier and co-authored and edited 7 more books. His work has received 2600 citations and he has an h-index of 29.
He serves as Associate Editor of the International Journal of Recycling Organic Waste in Agriculture (Springer) and member of the Editorial Board of the Central Asian Journal of Water Research.
Dr Inglezakis has considerable professional experience working in more than 40 projects as consultant in 15 countries, including two appointments as Resident Twining Advisor (position accredited by the European Commission) on environmental legislation in the Ministry of Environment of two EU countries, Romania and Slovakia.
He has been project proposals evaluator for ERANETMED (2015-2017), LIFE+ (2014) and ERASMUS MUNDUS (2011-2012 and 2019) European Commission programmes, Russian Science Foundation (2015-2018), the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation (2018), the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan (2012-2013 and 2017) and Romania (2011-2016), the Chilean Antarctic Institute (2018) and the Thailand Research Fund (2019). He had been member of the National Research Council of Kazakhstan and in 2016 he was awarded by the Ministry of Education of Kazakhstan for his distinguished contribution to the country’s education system.
